PlayStation network won’t sign in on hub

Hi, feel like I’m hitting my head against a brick wall with support. Had the 5g home hub for 2 months and no issues (only get 4g though in my area), suddenly today PlayStation won’t sign into my account. Initially thought ps network is down, no one else reporting it, reset router, PlayStation etc. no joy, then tethered PlayStation to my iPhone 12 mini (also with three on 4g).

Support literally don’t even understand the issue, saying issue is my end when proved it isn’t by signing in no problem tethering to phone, every other device and thing works at home; internet Netflix etc….so what. Have three changed to make this break?

If anyone cares, I figured it out finally by googling 8.8kbps as I knew this was the problem.

so using these search results from Google:

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/crazy-low-three-5g-hub-upload-8-8kbps-but-only-on-some-devi...

https://community.three.co.uk/t5/Network/Three-APN-Settings/m-p/5373

i changed the APN settings in the hub admin page from the address 192.168.0.1

If you’re on a mobile device you need to change the webpage from mobile to PC view then in the centre of your page you will have a title of “my router”, 4g+ should be toggled on then choose settings, then the bottom option APN. Then from mode auto to manual, and basically I added a new profile, named it 3 (though it’s just a name so doesn’t matter), PDP type is defaultly selected at IPv4 then in the APN field I just typed three.co.uk, authentication is none and username and password is none.

Hope this helps someone, my question is now why did this just suddenly happen today? Will this change again in future? And why don’t support have a clue about it at all, and try to blame me or Sony when it’s obvious it’s not the problem, since I told them repeatedly I can use the PlayStation with other internet sources. Goodnight!

Yeah, these changes haven't worked for me- the fact 3 haven't fixed it yet is laughable really

I'm getting the same problem with my PS5 for a few days now. It is intermittent so sometimes it signs in but will randomly fail. Valorant is especially difficult to get working since it takes ages to sign in and when it does pass the login, it will just give an error whilst loading. I've tried ethernet direct to the MC888 hub but it is still the same.

It was working fine for the first 4 weeks of getting the hub but something must have changed at the ISP end to prevent the PS5 connecting properly. What a joke.

Yeah exactly the same issues with Val as well. I’ve been on with 3 support twice, and nothing apart from resetting the hub has been suggested. Going to have to see if I can get a new hub.

Bizarre that it seems to kick in after 5 weeks or so every time

one year later and 3 still havent fixed this issue. its  ajoke.

these instructions were perfect though and whilst the network speed isnt as fast as when on my laptop or phone, it works... which is a blessing

I cannot believe that after nearly a year of people reporting issues, this still isn't resolved. I have just signed my son up to 3 in his new home. He has connected his PS5 via WiFi and ethernet cable and it says that basically the router won't allow connexion. He had hood signal, blue light to is on the hub to say best connexion too.  His phone, laptop, ipad all working but he can't go on his ps5. neither of us are technologically advanced and we've had a freind down to look at settings on ps5 with no joy. Why is this issue not resolved yet by 3.  My son can still cancel his contract so might need to after all. What a pain. The whole point in the 3 system is plug in and go. If we need a degree in computers it's not much use. I'd need an engineer to come sort it for us because we don't understand all these changes you have to make to settings. I can't even figure out logging in to that part to do it. They should sort it, send an engineer out or do a video step by step. We'll it will be back to Virgin Internet I guess.

I’m having the same issue with my 5G modem (NR5103E). Stopped working for me 5 days ago. Can connect to my 3 mobile by tethering but that’s not a long term solution. I know it’s the modem as I have BT broadband as well, everything connects fine to that. But the BT gets cancelled in 2 weeks. WiFi and Ethernet don’t work anymore for the PS5. Everything else works fine. I’ve seen the info and possible solution but because I’m dyslexic, I struggle to follow general instructions. I’d be very grateful if some one could send me a simplified work through.

Hi @Jaytheguvna,

If you check the thread FYI : IPv6 Prevented VPN Connection there's some info from community members @Anvil_Iron and also in the replies from @NG that will help walk you through some settings changes that should help with this, assuming it's the same issue other customers have mentioned.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I’m having this issue too. My hub is the NR5103E. My PS5 was working perfectly. I didn’t play it for a few months and now it won’t connect to the internet. It can see the hub, and obtain an IP address when I test the connection. The PS5 connects to my phone as a hotspot, and I have updated its software using that connection, but that didn’t solve anything. Please help.

Hi @Mulgreaux5g,

I think the issue you're seeing may relate to this thread FYI : IPv6 Prevented VPN Connection

If you follow the info on there to set a manual APN and IPv4 that seems to be helping with similar situations.

Thanks,
Jonathan
